Tyler Simpson
Founder, CEO, DVM
I proudly graduated from Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2008. While I had a love for small animal medicine and surgery, it was the genuine connection with clients and the family-like atmosphere of a small private practice that truly captured my heart. I strongly believe that no one cares how much you know until they know how much you care. This realization reinforced my belief that compassion and care are the pillars of exceptional veterinary care.
As a devoted pet parent myself to Emma, Max, and Rex, who are my beloved fur babies, I had a dream of opening a practice that catered to people who share the same passion for their pets as I do. In 2022, that dream became a reality as I founded FurWell Veterinary Hospital, a place where I could work directly with other pet parents to ensure that pets live their best, happiest, and healthiest lives.
If you, too, are a dedicated pet parent and understand the deep bond we share with our four-legged friends, I invite you to join our FurWell family. Together, we can make a positive impact in our community and the world. Your journey with us starts here, and I am excited to welcome you to our pet parent movement. Let’s change the world for the better, one paw at a time!

Ashlee Barr
DVM, CVA
Dr. Barr graduated from Clemson University in 2005 with a degree in Animal Science as well as a minor in Spanish. Dr. Barr then attended veterinary school at the University of Georgia and received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine in 2010. After completing an internship at an equine specialty center in Ocala, Florida Dr. Barr moved to Seneca, South Carolina where she joined a mixed animal practice serving both large and small animals.
Dr. Barr then spent 3 years on the island of Puerto Rico where she practiced mixed animal medicine and surgery. While there she discovered a real passion for education and continued to follow her dream of working in the field of veterinary medicine around the globe. It was in Guatemala that she was first introduced to Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM). After witnessing firsthand how TCVM benefited her own dog, Deuce, she was so intrigued by this approach to veterinary medicine that she decided to pursue her education in acupuncture and herbal medicine through the Chi Institute. Dr. Barr completed her certifications to practice these specialized modalities in 2018 and has been practicing TCVM in the Upstate since that time.
When practicing, Dr. Barr likes to slow down and pay attention to the entire animal. During every examination she considers environment, lifestyle, genetics, exercise, nutrition, and an individual pet’s constitution when formulating recommendations. She has a special interest in geriatric patient care and strengthening the patient/client relationship through education and gentle modification.
Dr. Barr lives in Simpsonville with her husband, Philip, their son Everett and daughter Iris. Their dog, Lexi, and cat, Decaf, love the benefits of having an acupuncturist mom!

Michelle Schriefer joined FurWell Veterinary Hospital after Hudson Road Veterinary Clinic closed, bringing over 20 years of expertise in ER and specialty veterinary medicine. Living in Greer with her husband, two children, and their Cane Corso, Rasmus, Michelle treasures time with family, whether traveling or playing tennis. Michelle feels blessed to be part of the veterinary community, fostering relationships that strengthen the bond between animals and their humans. She takes pride in making others smile and cherishes every chance to contribute to the well-being of FurWell families and their beloved pets.
